Hi Everyone,

Figured I'd ask in the forums 1st before contacting DEAN directly.  Does anyone know if there are any
gotcha's with Dean's code running if the installation is updated from MySQL v4 to MySQL v5??

Hi Dean,

I wonder is it possible to dealt multiple email users with a  drop down box
which allows the user to paste into the List Box all the emails to be removed
from the system on ALL lists?

If not... Sure would be nice.  Or at least the ability to delete an email completely
from the system with one operation.  Is this doable?  How hard would this feature
be to add to 1.88 ?

General Help & How-To / Easiest way to clean an OLD Mailing List
« on: September 07, 2011, 09:22:58 am »
Hi Everyone,

On one of my lists that I have not mailed in a while is quite large. When I sent out
a mailing in the past month I got over 100K permanent email errors -- but it looks
like those emails HAVE NOT BEEN REMOVED off my list.

Not sure what is amiss...

Isn't the script suppose to remove IMMEDIATELTY from all lists any email that comes
back  with a permanent email error?

I notice some of the emails are on multiple lists and need to be removed, but the
question is what is the best way to do this...

Manually remove them ONE-BY-ONE -- real pain would take FOREVER....

or some other way.

Suggestions ..

Christopher

Hi Dean,

I have a problem that maybe you can handle. I load up in a list that I define in ListMailPro a bunch of leads that I get from a service.  The leads from what I can tell are pretty bad --- 50% of all leads are immediately bounced back as permanent errors (i.e. BAD EMAILS).  Now my question is simple... does ListMailPro remove these emails from the current send list instead of still sending follow up emails to BAD emails which looks really really bad.

I know that the emails are BAD because I get the emails returned via EXIM to the return email address that I specify from the sender and then you thunderbird to filter which emails are PERMANET vs. delayed, etc. etc.

What would be really helpful and I mean really helpful is to find a work-around *fix* in the current version of ListMailPro where by bounced emails could be processed by ListMailPro,

For example... List 60 -- has an email account setup for processing bad emails sent off this list.
When you invoke this function on ListMailPro it would download the emails and filter and process all the permanent emails against the list which is queued up (when looking for an opt-in confirmation -- double confirmation for example or even single confirmation for that matter) - that way bad emails are removed immediately and never get a follow up email sent.
That way ONLY VALID follow-up emails are sent to currently valid emails at least as far as the most simple test runs.

Is this a feature you could create without too much fuss ? (Each list would have as an option the ability to process bad emails immediately by specifying the email sent off that list.)

Let me know...

Hi folks,

I realize Dean Wiebe probably will never read this, but hopefully the army of ListMail Pro fans will.  I'm wondering about one thing...

Can the current version of ListMail Pro allow:

one to send emails to it, to signup? The reason why I ask is I have other programs I am trying to integrate with ListMail Pro. It captures the customer's information including email and I would simply like to then add that customer automatically to an autoresponder on ListMail Pro.

Anyone who knows the answer to this I'd appreciate your feedback.

Thanks,

Christopher

Hi Dean,

I know it's been almost a year since I last posted. But I have to ask, when will the NEW VERSION of ListMailPro be in a usable state for testing at least... if not for the masses to work out the rest of the bugs ?

Christopher

p.s. Any functional version would be great. May have bugs.. but that ok. What software doesn't have bugs ...

Hi Dean,

In regards to sending a broadcast out to my lists I'm not sure what to make of this. It seems the emails instead of being directly delivered instead end up in the MESSAGE QUEUE for the server.  In that queue are the emails as well as bounced emails and I'm wondering this is normal ?

General Help & How-To / Bounce Setup so it works...
« on: December 21, 2007, 01:02:18 pm »
Hi Dean,

I tried sending some broadcasts to my lists recently and something in regards to bounce processing is not quite right.

I only checked the 2nd option bounce.cgi and setup a cron job to execute
the dailymail.php once a day.  Do I need to check the 3rd option as well.

When I tried running dailymail.php manually it looks like it's going thru
the paces but no emails are removed and I know I got some bounces.

A bit frustrated...

Christopher

p.s. About 2 months ago I migrated all my sites to another dedicated
server thus the issues with ListMailPro.  Something is not quite right.

General Help & How-To / Bouncing emails NOT WORKING Dean...
« on: April 26, 2007, 05:53:20 am »
Hi Dean,

Well as you know I finally got ListMailPro to work with SMTP on my server after a configuration change on EXIM by EV1. But for the life of me the bounce feature just isn't hunting at all...

Do I need to check the Use an email account as well and add a password and define and email called bounce to make this work ?

Please advise..

Thanks

General Help & How-To / Adding new messages to an existing list
« on: April 20, 2007, 10:56:55 am »
Hi Dean,

I initially setup a bunch of lists on my server and now I'm moving to the next phase which is segmenting the interests of my groups into various lists.

I've created a new opt-in form to be used with some of the existing lists that I've already created.

Now here's where I'm stumped. I then went to that list and created my 1st message to be sent to that list. But when I goto the list and signup. ListMailPro is not sending the 1st message from what I can tell immediately which is what I expected.

So what am I missing Dean ? How can I create a message which would be SENT to the inbox immediately after signing up to the list ?

Thanks

Christopher

Hi Dean,

This afternoon a tweak on EXIM finally solved the sending of email using SMTP recommended.  But now I want to make sure that the settings are
tweaked.

If I have 3500 emails to send out to a list. JUST how fast should it be sending the emails out from my server ?  My settings are as follows:

SMTP Server (Recommended) CHECKED
Always write SMTP logfile CHECKED for now..
HOST: localhost
Port: 25
Reconnect every 1000 emails (DEAN what is the best settings here)
AUTH ? CHECKED
and
Authorize by Checking Email CHECKED

all with the appropriate fields checked. I also ran a test on the settings and they all past.

So I guess what I'm asking Dean is this ... throttling the
number of emails it's sending out to the REST of the world
so my IP is not blacklisted simply because I'm sending out
email TOO FAST!!

Are my settings OK or would you suggest a tweak here to
ensure deliverability ? If it takes another 5 or 10 who cares..
Deliverability is the key.

I await your thoughts on this most important issue.

Hi Dean,

In regards to the broadcasting...

I've tried multiple tests today ...

It seems if I want to Send an Email to one person --- it will work.

If I try to send to say 150 people then I get that strange error that
I posted earlier.

I did get a broadcast to work -- but only using the PHP settings not the
recommended smtp settings..

Your thoughts on this matter...

Thanks

Christopher

Hi Dean,

I've read a few posts on this subject in your forums and I'm a bit hesistant to try this for having a royal mess.

Currently, I'm using ListMailPro to hold my lists and when I figure out HOW to send a broadcast (another issue posted in the forum) then I'll be set.

Meanwhile, I'm not using YET ListMailPro to grab new subscribers -- I have another system in place for that which seems to work fine. But, here is my issue.

Let's say List #1 has 600 subscribers.  My other system continuely gets NEW emails ... So if I want to update ListMailPro before sending out a mailing then I need to export the list from System A and IMPORT that list into say List #1.

Now here is my issue:

How can I import an existing email list on top of my current list on ListMailPro such that ONLY  NEW emails (which don't exist on List#1) are are the only ones added to the list. I do NOT want the WHOLE list over-written as some of those initial emails I tweaked once I got them into the ListMailPro system. I only want NEW emails ADDED to ListMailPro.

Is this possible and if so HOW ?

Thanks,

Christopher

General Help & How-To / Broadcast Issues...
« on: April 02, 2007, 12:04:37 pm »
Hi Dean,

Christopher here. I was trying to send out a broadcast to my list. My first attempt using ListMailPro and well... I seem to have a little problem. See below the screen shot that I have and maybe you can shed some light.

I hope you can shed some light on what I'm missing here.

Thanks

Christopher

Hi Dean,

Well, I imported all my lists and some of those lists have some REALLY BOGUS data in them. No First or last name -- just an email address.

I would like to know what would be the process for sending a BROADCAST out to one of the lists which would allow each individual to see what is currently in their record and allow them to update their record appropriately - ie. First Name, Last Name and maybe even their email address.

What sort of email needs to be created which is customized for each user so that they can update their specific information.

Please advise...

Thanks

Christopher
