Development, Suggestions / Reliable !remove code
« on: June 30, 2006, 03:35:32 pm »
What is the feeling about the PHP code attaching a mandatory removal link at the end of mail sent in the event that you forget to add the !remove message yourself or have somehow accidentally removed or lost the code? (If that didn't make sense I mean you get one added if you like it or not..)

Just a thought that it could save some embarrassment with the canspam laws. I know I get even legitimate mail without remove links as the mail is sometimes in HTML but I only view my email in text.

I have had a few like this with 'click here' and no link in the text version.

Anyone wanting to use mail to for adding to a blog could perhaps add themselves to their list and edit/delete whats received before forwarding to their blog...

Just some thoughts... nothing serious.

Sorry for new thread but I couldnt post to DW's thread...

DW,
There have been a couple of queries concerning changes made not sticking (eg User Selections and something recently you were looking to see if a bug fix was needed), have those been resolved in 1.6 please.

Development, Suggestions / Don't be mean, add a letter..
« on: May 09, 2005, 03:19:50 pm »
DW, you were going to show (somewhere on the admin screen maybe) the version number of ListMail installed.
How about a revision suffix as well to your download files so we can tell which it is and that we haven't got them muddled somehow when doing an upgrade?
I have installed 'v1.8' a number of times now but I couldn't tell you exactly which I have (except it's the latest).

Development, Suggestions / How about a ban...?
« on: April 30, 2005, 04:49:12 pm »
Just a little note in here from something I said in the forum when I first got ListMail, about another system I had looked at. I was reminded by the post about mass removals from database.

So many (not just with ListMail but in general..!) are banning signups from some ISP's because of non-delivery problems or false spam complaints.

How about an additional check (similar to the check for duplicate signups), against a disallowed ISP/domain list? This would save removing them later. Just a thought. Probably need it's own error message as well.

Development, Suggestions / [Dev] Recurring Messages
« on: April 26, 2005, 04:53:44 pm »
I can set up a timed message in advance but being busy (and forgetful) I am wondering if it would be easy to keep the message and have it recurring?

We just need blanks on the Month and Year selectors (Oh..! and a bit of code from Dean.)

For example:
If only  the 15th was set, maybe it could be sent every 15th of the month.
If the 15th May was set maybe every 15th May.
If (at present) the 15th May 2006 was set, then just that one time.

This first option would allow monthly reminders of payment due dates or order deadlines or just to remind of login details for a low contact 'back burner' list.

The second option would allow for annual subscription reminders or advance reminders to order for special anniversaries/public holidays and which could all be set in advance once without having to do it again each year. All the different 'order in advance' reminders can add up, and the user selection feature focusing these reminders could free up some time when you need it most.

Just think, when you go off on your holidays... (or working away) no more worry about sending those monthly reminders on time.

**
Of course if you wanted something reminded every two weeks you can just put two copies in two weeks apart.

General Help & How-To / small Custom HTML bug...?
« on: March 27, 2005, 04:48:34 pm »
Using ‘List Settings’ from the Admin and selecting the lower ‘custom HTML’ button I seem to try and use ‘custom.php’ which is different from the upper button which seems to use ‘editchtml.php’ (which works fine). Unfortunately I do not seem to have (or need?) ‘custom.php’ and so get an error with the lower button. I guess I won’t use that one.

Testimonials, Feedback / Where are all the BAD posts on here..?
« on: March 26, 2005, 06:25:58 pm »
Being fresh to ListMail, Websites, SQL, PHP, SMTP and the rest, is was inevitable that I should have big problems with an install of something as powerful as ListMail.
I worried when the files I edited following the help file all went in so well. I knew something was wrong when the install performed flawlessly first time. This shouldn't have happened with someone as inept as myself doing this.
I did find one problem; I made a typo with my e-mail address..!
I guess I can't blame anyone else for that.
Back to the subject 'Where are all the BAD post about ListMail'.. Well it seems that there are none.
Great work Dean. Fresh install of v1.8 and so easy.

General Help & How-To / Should I delete some files?
« on: March 26, 2005, 10:42:17 am »
Hi, I thought I saw somewhere that I should delete a couple of files after installation. Some of the instal or setup files for security. I have been reading so many instal notes lately that I loose track of which instal I am doing at any time. Maybe it was another system notes I saw it in. Hope someone can set me right here.  Thanks. TrevorW.

OK found it in the end... it was after backing up....
