General Help & How-To / Sending email hangs with "Internal Serve Error"
« on: January 28, 2009, 03:12:38 pm »
After sending about three batches of 50 emails I get an error pop up that says in bold: Internal Server Error

When I try to resume it happens again. I don't know what has been sent or what is unsent. I don't have a clue what to do.

Great support for ListMail.

It is wonderful to get timely support by the expert who developed the software instead of just getting queued up by an uninformed technical support staff.

General Help & How-To / Some of my newsletter went out, some didn't.
« on: April 30, 2006, 04:19:17 pm »
Dean,
I'm now logged in to the forum for the first time. I think this is where you want me to work through the problem with you. (Below is the problem as I described it to you earlier and your email response. )

You had advised me to upgrade to the latest release and I'll do that but I want to avoid adding more variables to the situation until it is resolved.  I've played with the demo of the current version and see some nice improvememts.

I have 2 immediate needs though.
 1. Figure out who did and who did not get my last newsletter so I can resend it to those who didn't get it.
 2. Fix what went wrong to ensure it doesn't just fail again.

You asked me to send you my server information. I'm not sure what you are needing. My site, creativelyspeaking.com is hosted on http://www.apollohosting.com.

Thanks,
Randall

YOUR PRIOR RESPONSE:
You should have received an email with your new ListMail member details.  I
recommend upgrading to v1.85 and (or) submitting your server information to me at
the following URL so I can investigate.

>From what you describe in your previous emails it sounds like your host may be
reaching the limits of its server capability for email.  Some shared hosting
companies place far too many users on each server which can affect email
performance and deliverability by quite a factor.

What I can do is enable the SMTP log to see if your messages are in fact being
accepted by the server or if they are being ignored or rejected with ListMail not
detecting that fact.  Some improvements have been made with SMTP detection
throughout ListMail's lifetime so it's definitely a good idea to update to the
latest stable version available from the member area.

MY INITIAL GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM:

Yesterday I tried to send an e-zine to 2,500 subscribers. Some got it.
Some did not get it. I don't know who did or didn't.

* Is there a log that can tell me who did  or didn't get it sent?
* How can I find out what went wrong so I can be sure it will work next
time?

This is what appeared to happen...
Emails were sent in batches of 50. The time between batches seemed to
get longer and longer (I wasn't timing them so this is an impression.
They may have been the same slow pace all along.) It was stuck on 650
for a long time, then 700, then 750, then 800. After about 45 minutes at
800 it jumped to 2100 and then quickly went to 2502 and said it was
finished.

I appreciate your help.
