General Help & How-To / Confirmed user not moving to Active list??...
« on: September 03, 2006, 12:52:00 pm »
I've put in a ticket to Dean as well -- I'll keep y'all posted here (or Dean will I'm sure).

Right now I'm tracking new signups to see when it happens, to see if I can find a pattern.

Peace,
Terri Z

1.87 is looking very suspicious...I've confirmed that the problem started happening Monday 8/25 -- right around upgrade time.

...and getting multiple (annoying) please confirm messages!

Hi,

Dean just updated me to 1.87 last week. (This may or may not be related).

Seems to be working fine except for one problem. A new user emailed me and asked to be removed because "you keep sending me the same message". Looks like that message was the confirmation message (the list is set for double opt-in). I received at least 2 admin messages telling me he had been added to the list (i.e., had confirmed); however in the database, he continues to show up as unconfirmed.

I've just verified that this scenario happened to about half of my signups in the last few days (they are still in unconfirmed, although I received the admin confirmation message for them. But it doesn't seem to be happening to all. Doesnt' seem to be a pattern of where they are coming from, at least not that I can detect thus far.

I see that 1.87 has the option to send the confirmation every x days; however I have this unchecked.

Anyone else experiencing this with 1.87? Dean -- ideas on what I should do?

Thanks,
Terri Z

I guess my brain doesn't think in such devious ways as to keep up with the nefarious miscreants of society

It's not a problem -- I was just looking for a quick and dirty way to track signups from various sources. It's not worth the effort to custom program -- although I do appreciate your offer to help.  :)

Customization, Integration / co-reg option

The URL value would be hardcoded into the form on the page (which is the coreg form, not the LMP form), so there is no possibility of changing it. But if it can't be passed, then it's a moot point.

I'm not sure I understand, though, how someone putting in a fake URL could then complain that it is not 100% opt-in? This is still a double-opt in list...even after the info is passed to LMP, they have to confirm before they are added. Maybe I'm missing something.

Customization, Integration / how to pass ref url in co-reg
« on: August 26, 2006, 10:47:35 am »
I'm using this script also, and I'd like to be able to pass a code (just the letters "tbc") to show up as the Ref. URL in LM.

I tried
Quote
fname=[name]&email=[email]&list=22&overwrite_dupes=1&refurl=tbc
but the Ref. URL is still coming through as Unknown. I also trief ref=tbc.

Everything else is working fine...

Thanks,
Terri Z

I've also used aMember integrated with ListMailPro and this is the workaround we've used:
--Use aMember's capability to send the immediate "welcome message".
--Use the ListMail followup function to send a message the next day.

This assumes the LMP list you are using with aMember can only be "subscribed to" by being added via aMember.

Terri Z

Development, Suggestions / Statistics for link stats

Thanks, Brett. I had been looking for exactly that thread!

I'd still like something built-in -- I'm only a pseudo-techie

I've just finished reading this fascinating thread. I have a few questions for Dean -- not for you to answer for all of us, but just for yourself.

--How perfect does a welcome message, a followup, a web page, need to be before you release it? What is the risk of releasing something less than perfect?

--How much is an hour of your time worth?

--How many hours do you think you spent *just* responding to this thread?

--What tasks do you dread/fear/just don't want to do that could be done by a virtual assistant, a copywriter, a less-experience code writer?

--How rare is it, do you think, that you would have customers willing to advise/coach/encourage you? What does that say about their faith in the product? How does your faith in the product compare?

Just something to chew on. And believe me, these questions come from personal experience

At one time Dean was planning a feature to be able to download link tracking data into an Excel file (or csv) so we could do all the analysis we wanted...I don't know the status of that, however.

Development, Suggestions / is this fixed in 1.86??

Am I correct in thinking this line from the 1.86 changes list means the issue referenced in this thread is now fixed?

Would it be possible to put in radio buttons or a pull-down so users can change from html to text or vice versa??

Development, Suggestions / Message-Id added locally??
« on: February 22, 2006, 07:05:37 pm »
Hi Dean,
The analyzer is called Content Consultant http://www.towerdata.com/services/email/deliverability/index.html. It used to be free but they just got bought out and I'm on the last few weeks of a 30-day trial (it's just not worth it to pay for!)

I tried sending just a plain email from my domain (same server) and it didn't trigger this "error"...

Thanks!

Development, Suggestions / Message-Id added locally??
« on: February 21, 2006, 01:44:21 pm »
I've been using a service that examines email to make sure nothing in it will trip spam filters. One warning I get with every email sent from LMP is this:
Quote
Message envelope failed 1 compliance check.

Message-Id for external message added locally.
The mandatory "Message-ID" header was missing from the email you sent and was added by the receiving mail server.

Of course this is Greek to me...is this a real problem? How can I fix it?

Thanks,
Terri Z
