General Help & How-To / Trouble Restoring Database
« on: August 13, 2009, 07:05:43 am »
I would suggest trying to backup the DB using phpmyadmin and restoring it with phpmyadmin instead of even trying to use Listmail...

Chmod it to at least 755 after uploading.

General Help & How-To / Upgraded, Refreshed, No Database Upgrade?

Sounds typical...

You can give him the benefit of the doubt but it's been almost 2 years...

We all did that TOO for the first 6-12 months.

I'm considering branching off and developing a "similar" software but I don't know, it's definitely not a simple task...

Chances are you won't hear anything from what seems to be going on around here...

Can you keep us informed as to if you do ever hear from dean, the whole ( shrinking fast ) listmail community wants to know, thanks.

General Help & How-To / Dean, want to sell Listmail?
« on: July 14, 2009, 12:09:08 pm »
Well as for speed, I'm doing most on a medium end VPS and getting around 10K.  It's only that slow due to Domain Keys and DKIM signing, which really slow things down a lot but are a big plus in this day/age.  I really trimmed my main list down a lot and don't need huge numbers per hour anymore...

I have another program to use... but I still like listmail for ease and simplicity...  I've also considered creating a combination and selling it on my own, etc... but I don't know how well it would do.

What's weird with Dean is he still has to be around as I still see his Paid google ads running, so he must be making money still?  I hope he's ok also, a quick message from him would be awesome.

Yea I'm still here, been using Listmail since October 2003 so almost 6 years now.

I  have old emails between me and Dean from back then where I helped him speed up the program sending.

Unfortunately I haven't heard a word from him since he seems to have disappeared.  He must be around somewhat tho as the sites seem to be down one day and up the next.  Sad really, I hope and wish Dean all the best.

Didn't really want to post in the forums but had no choice, hope you read this...

I still love listmail and use it every day.  I'll make it quick, would you be interested in selling Listmail?

General Help & How-To / Replacing Listmail?
« on: May 12, 2009, 09:10:23 am »
Well honestly first off, I wish Dean was around, been a LONG time user and it's been very disappointing the past couple years...

Listmail still does pretty much everything I need but updates are always exciting even if they are just small and don't do a lot...

Anyway back to your post...

Secondly I highly doubt listmail is the reason why you aren't getting your mail at the other 3 emails.  It could be but I doubt it.

It's more and likely your server is blocked and changing to another email system on the same server won't help.

A clean list... if it's not clean and mail is stuck in the queue, it will clog up.

Also temporary blocks, delays, etc from say yahoo.  Make sure to get whitelisted with the big ISP's.

General Help & How-To / Lots of bounces and delays

You will have to look at your Email programs logs to see if there are any error messages in them.

Otherwise when they finally bounce back to you, there should be some info in the bounced email about what happened.

General Help & How-To / Confimation e-mail
« on: July 10, 2008, 02:11:55 pm »
There's no code to change on any of the actual files....  you want to change your confirmation email message.

Goto:  "List settings" and edit the confirmation message that is sent out.  Simply change all the "!confirm" instances in the email to "!confirm&utm_nooverride=1".

Ok, that makes sense, so you want GA to not override the customers existing cookie/info from the previous page... gotcha.

Ok, the simplest way to do this in in your confirm message you'll see the confirm code:
Code: [Select]
!confirm

Simply change that to:
Code: [Select]
!confirm&utm_nooverride=1

Worked for me, test first.

Doesn't GA only work if you put their code on the page?  ( I use it but haven't messed with it in a while ).

I believe that's the case, so therefore NO change should be required in this if you don't want GA to analyze the confirm page.

Or are you wanting GA to report on the confirm page?

I believe the file is "rem.php".

Hope that helps.
