Apart from that it's possible that the reputation of URLs used in your messages is causing temporary or permanent blocks. The same can happen with your IP, with the likelihood of blocking increasing with the number of users sending email from a shared server.

Here's the funny thing, ALL of the URLs in the message point to the domain of where I am sending email from using LMP - I use the Link Tracking feature of LMP - I do this because I want the links in my emails to be consistent with the domain of where they are being sent from, so I don't think this would have any effect?

Are there other sites/blocking you are referring to - such as AOL/HotMail/Gmail, etc...  I know I have AOL Whitelisting enabled, but maybe it's not the correct IP after the move?  Any suggestions on setting that up properly?

The URL of your LMP is subject to the same standards as any other URL... therefore it could be causing problems.  You should check your IP and URL for black listings.

AOL whitelisting is definitely tied to the IP's so if you have moved then I can pretty much guarantee it's not in effect.  It may actually be causing worse problems if you had your domain tied to the old IP and have moved  to a new ip.

Reset it up with them for your Dedicated server, not the shared host you are on now ( unless you have a dedicated IP ).  Same for Yahoo and MSN.

On another note... the sawmill might help show initial delivery, but even that in NO WAY guarantees the person actually saw the email or actually even got it.  Many mail systems will accept the mail, which to your system seems like it was delivered.  But then they process it and run it through checks, blacklists, etc and if it fails just discard it...

Sounds like Listmail Is doing exactly what you want it to do, yes that's nice!   8)

I use Listmail for lots of things...  Managing my 150K opt-in list.  My squeeze/splash pages to get opt-ins and run unlimited followups to potential customers / users.

Been using it Since October 2003.  When I first bought it, it was very slow to send to my list of around 150k or so.  I worked first hand with Dean to get the speed up to acceptable limits.  Well he actually did all the work, I just told him what was  happening with it on my end.

Can't beat that with a stick.  Been using and loving it ever since!   :D

I'd guess because of scripting...  when I clicked you link in my Firefox with the "Noscript" plugin on it didn't work on the website either.

I'd guess most email clients won't allow scripting in emails as it's possibly hazardous.

I'd say your best best in the email is to somehow just link to a page where they can recommend it to a friend or use a non scripted version or something of that nature.

General Help & How-To / dailymail does not work properly
« on: April 24, 2007, 09:23:46 am »
Sorry about that, after a little closer look I believe that is the mail servers greeting showing you whats available.

I'll bet that's the size limit on the server...

What SMTP server are you on?

On mine after sending the Mail From and the RCPT to, I get these messages:

Quote
> MAIL FROM: <bounce@xxxx.com>
> RCPT TO: <mike@xxxx.com>
250 2.1.0 <bounce@xxxx.com>... Sender ok
250 2.1.5 <mike@xxxx.com>... Recipient ok

On yours I only noticed it said:

Quote
> MAIL FROM: <bounce@xxxxxxxxxxx.com>
> RCPT TO: <xxx@xxx.com>
250 OK
LM: Undeliverable. RCPT response was BLANK, possible timeout. Skipping.

Which seems fine, but is it?  Can you show a part of the log where it actually does deliver a message, since you say some are going?

General Help & How-To / dailymail does not work properly

I just glanced through this post, but I think I see your problem right away...

Why are you trying to send a 20MB email?

250-SIZE 20971520

This will likely never happen... and really probably shouldn't.

If you are sending some sort of huge attachment, I suggest uploading it to your website and just linking to it in the email.

Ok this is working great and I want to use this on another list but in a little different way...

I'd like to be able to run this as a cron job for one particular list and if the email hasn't been verified in say 2 hours, it auto does what it does.

Can you set it so I can do this easily...  I'd be happy to pay a few bucks if you can expedite it, let me know, thanks.

General Help & How-To / Change time that follow-ups are sent
« on: April 23, 2007, 06:20:43 pm »
Yep, simply change the time on your dailymail cron job.

I use sendmail and get about 35,000 per hour or so on average queued from Listmail to the Sendmail Server ( which is seperate ).

SO it shouldn't take much more than 6 minutes or so to queue those to the mailer...

This really depends on server, etc.  I'd guess the mailer will make little difference with this small a number.

General Help & How-To / sending stalls

Nope, but a real simple solution is to use the auto-resume cron tab option, works like a charm!  Do a search in the forum, not sure if it's in the docs...

General Help & How-To / php mail report
« on: March 28, 2007, 01:24:57 pm »
The situation in this case would be similar with SMTP...  There is no reporting to know if your messages "ACTUALLY" get sent.

I could go on and on about many things in this category but I won't.

Of course SMTP is still obviously WAY better to use...

71
Worked like a charm... as usual!

Thanks DW!

This is no rush, more of a simple luxury really for one very small list...

What you propose seems like it would work very well...

Another simple way may be just a real quick page I can browse to separately that moves all unconfirmeds on this list only to confirmed and sends the welcome email to them...

No rush, thanks a lot.

73
>>>> BUMP  >>>>  Dean any thoughts on this?

74
Ok I have a list where I know everyone that would sign up to it, but sometimes they might not actually know how to confirm there signup. ( parents, grand-parents, etc.).

I could simply make it non confirmed opt-in, but I still want to keep people from putting in crap on the form should an outsider find it.

I know the MySql code to change unconfirmed users to confirmed on this list, but that won't send them my welcome message.  What I need is a simple page or something that will change them to confirmed and send them the welcome message right away.

General Help & How-To / Sending an Attachment to an Email
« on: March 16, 2007, 03:50:11 am »
I don't know about the attachments part of your message, sorry.  I would say it just doesn't work in the preview part.  Try making a test list with your email on it and sending to it.  NOTE:  I always send to my test list like this first to make sure my email actually looks right.

Regarding using MS Frontpage / style sheets...  I gave up on Frontpage a while ago, not because of style sheets, but I found something I liked better, it's free and works well with style sheets and has a built in style sheet editor that works fairly well.  Even though I am no style sheets expert at all.

It's called "Kompozer", do a search for it spelled just like that and you should find it.  It's actually a non official bug release for a program called "Nvu".

It's a WYSIWYG editor but does less messing around with your code, etc...  Anyway sorry about not actually answering your main part of your post.  Just trying to help with the second part.
