Development, Suggestions / Feature Request: Inboxresponse.com?
« on: February 16, 2007, 08:43:37 am »
HI Dean,

BounceRemoval.com is now InboxResponse.com.

InboxResponse.com offers remote tracking and notification of successful, delayed, and failed ("bounced") email delivery attempts and ensure that your mailing lists are free of undeliverable email addresses. Our systems automatically receive, parse, sort, notify you, and when using an InboxResponse.com enabled mailing list program, can even automatically remove your bounced addresses from your mailing lists!

Currently, their only "enabled mailing list program" is site interactive and smpro http://www.siteinteractive.com/subpro/

What do you think about something like this for LMPRO integration?

Email Web Hosting / Web Host?
« on: January 28, 2007, 05:09:14 am »
HI

Unfortunately, I've been having a fit trying to find a host that will allow me to run the "bounce.cgi" feature of ListMailPro.  In other words, the host where I've got a huge site, ListMailPro, Amember, PhpBB, and Kayako Help Desk fully integrated and talking to each other doesn't have "email aliasing to a script" turned on.

I'm running a Virtual Private Server.  I've been with these guys forever and moving everything is a REAL pain.

Anyway, I wanted to start another thread on what I've seen, learned, about hosting companies in regards to large email lists.  There are probably better people to talk about this than I, so I welcome any input!

I found out via this forum that DreamHost used to be good, but they really had issues in the summer of 2006 and they'll nail you for being a resource hog.

I also signed up with ThirdSphere hosting, and I would stick with them, but they're only good for "product downloads" as opposed to a "membership area", plus you have to buy a totally separate account for each domain.  I run a membership site with chapters all over the world, so it's not going to work for me -- no membership area to collaborate in, and it's too expensive.

However, If I were running a solo site, with product downloads, I'd use thirdsphere because I've got a patchwork of autoresponders, shopping carts, etc, all accomplishing the same thing and it's been a lot more expensive and time consuming to do that on my own.  The biggest downside is relying aon everyone else to make sure they don't upload spamming lists, etc.  ALL users of the "automation station" send out through the same IP address I believe.  So, I'm willing to bet some moron is going to get the whole thing blacklisted one day.  I just wasn't willing to put myself through constant switching of hosts. I want my own IP Addresss es for everything.  But, if you're running a 2 page website selling ebooks, go for it. Make sure you click on the signature in Dean's sig block so he can make some affiliate commission :)

Anyway, for me, I need to stick to a Virtual Private Server or Dedicated Server.

1to1 is sold out of them at the time of this post.

also, for some reason, host4profit scares me.  I feel like I'm buying an ebook from them or something.   They've been around awhile and there is good press and bad press on them.  i know they have really high commissions, but that's not going to help me get back the hundreds of  hours of trying to move hosts. I've already spent 2 full days backing up SQL databases, etc.  :shock:   So, if they start messing with me and I have a hard time with them , it won't be good.

The goal for me is to find a host with the most flexibility and who aren't constantly being watched by the ISPs for spammng (a lot of the companies out there only send email through 1 or 2 IP addresses -- that's a huge problem -- actually, thirdsphere is like that with their "automation station".

Right now I think JaguarPC.com looks to be the best.

I've spent about 3 weeks looking around, and if you like LMPro and have large lists, Jaguar PC might be the best thing going (what do you think?)

    *  Full root access
    * Equal share cpu
    * Dualcore Dual cpu servers
    * Fast RAID10 Storage
    * Host Unlimited domains
    * FREE Level 2 Managed services
    * FREE Server hardening and security
    * FREE daily backups
    * FREE Moving assitance and data transfer for moves
    * FREE Virtuozzo Power Panel
    * FREE Enom reseller account
    * FREE 3 IP Addresses
    * Choice of OS: CentOS, Debian, Fedora Core, Suse
    * Choice of Control Panel: cPanel, Interworx, DirectAdmin, Plesk

I'm paying over 120.00/month for a host that does this the equivalent to Jaguar PC (been there 4 years, so I get in early on the VPS hosting action)

Jaguar PC Apollo Plan

    * 25 GB Disk Space
    * 3mbps unmetered or 500 GB Bandwidth
    * 384 MB Guaranteed Ram
    * 1536 MB Burstable Ram
    * Equal share cpu

At Jaguar PC, it's only 59.95/month

I would pick the cpanel control panel so I could setup bounce.cgi and an email alias.

If I was trying to figure out what to do, I'd do this --- it's very scalable, it's built to handle large lists, it's got root access, etc.

I tried to find their Terms of service, but all the links were broken to it :(

Anyway, before I spend  a *ton* of time moving hosts, I'm really going to come out swinging with my current host to figure out the email alias to bounce.cgi thing.   If that doesn't work out , I'll probably switch.

What do you all think?  Any work arounds on the bounce.cgi ?  any thoughts on jaguarpc?

I've had LMPro for 3 months and it's working flawlessly!  It's kind of scary actually....I keep logging in to make sure it's supposed to and it IS doing what it's supposed to :)

I have LMPro integrated with Amember.  When a person joins as a member, they get added to the correct list in LMPRo.  Most of the lists have an autoresponder series set up and LMPRo detects these and kicks them off via daily mail with no problem.

My question is....

When all these members join their respective memberships (and hence their respective LMPro lists),  I would like to add them to a "master" newsletter now.  I have it set up as list 35 in LMPRo and when they subscribe via the subscription form, I DO HAVE the "When users are added to this list also add them to the following list(s):"  checked with 35 in the box and that works like a champ....

How can I have the inserted people (inserted via amember in real time) get added to list 35?  Selected this from inside amember isn't an option...I  cannot make them get inserted into list 35...they have to stay inserted into their respective membership lists.  However, daily mail appears to not be "smart" enough to know an email was directly inserted into a list (i.e, list 7) and copy it into list 35.

If I cannot make them all go into 35 some how, I am going to have to send my master email out by querying all 35 lists and sending out that way (which I think LMPro can handle, but I'm nervous having that many duplicates running around)

Thanks!!

Server Optimization, Tweaks / Sending out emails : SPF Framework
« on: April 20, 2006, 09:40:05 am »
Hi Dean

I've been working hard trying to get my emails to go through.  My servers didn't have an SPF record on them, but I added an SPF record.  That allowed me to get through a lot of ISPs but there is still one thing that's happening, I hope you can help.

See where it says in the first line "may be forged"?    On some email's this is not a problem (like this first example,), but there is a lot where it IS A problem (see below):

 EHLO localhost
250-upsa-intl.org Hello upsa-intl.org [66.29.144.103] (may be forged), pleased to meet you
250-ENHANCEDSTATUSCODES
250-PIPELINING
250-8BITMIME
250-SIZE
250-DSN
250-ETRN
250-AUTH GSSAPI DIGEST-MD5 CRAM-MD5 LOGIN PLAIN
250-DELIVERBY
250 HELP
LM: SMTP Pipelining Detected
> NOOP
250 2.0.0 OK
> MAIL FROM: <bounced@upsa-intl.org>
> RCPT TO: <someone@upsa-intl.org>
250 2.1.0 <bounced@upsa-intl.org>... Sender ok
250 2.1.5 <someone@upsa-intl.org>... Recipient ok
> DATA
354 Enter mail, end with "." on a line by itself
> SENT DATA
250 2.0.0 k3KGY3YE022177 Message accepted for delivery
> QUIT
221 2.0.0 upsa-intl.org closing connection

Even though the email goes through (for this 1 email), when I send out to 10,000 people I'm getting a lot that say: "

Relaying denied. IP name possibly forged [66.29.144.103]  It looks like this:

> MAIL FROM: <bounced@upsa-intl.org>
> RCPT TO: <someone@leros.net>
250 2.1.0 <bounced@upsa-intl.org>... Sender ok
550 5.7.1 <someone@leros.net>... Relaying denied. IP name possibly forged [66.29.144.103]
LM: Undeliverable. RCPT response: 550 5.7.1 <someone@leros.net>... Relaying denied. IP name possibly forged

I have updated my SPF record to include 66.29.144.103 as an "approved" sender of email.  I don't know why it's saying that "it's possibly forged" do you?  Is it because the "from" address is different then the bounced address?

Development, Suggestions / Multiple Lists Unsubscribe
« on: March 13, 2006, 10:43:00 am »
Hi!

I have the multiple lists form running.  I got the code off of another forum post.

It appears that the signup process is fine (I turned on "overwrite duplicates" to get it to work).

the problem is, when someone tries to unsubscribe and they check more than one box, it always says:

There were errors removing you from our mailing list(s):
User not found in database. You should not receive any more email.

This isn't good, because it clearly says "you shouldn't receive anymore", but then the next mailing goes out and they get one!    :(

I can't send any more mailings until this is fixed in my form

Is there anyway you can look at it and see what is messed up?

The code is:

Customization, Integration / Custom Query
« on: February 22, 2006, 10:00:30 pm »
Hi Dean

How do I write a custom query to:

compare all the subcribers to "list 1" and then see if they are on "list 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8"  and if they're NOT on any of those 8, send them an email?

I used the rules "wizard" to create a compilation of all 9 lists (and it de-dupes when you do that).  So, maybe I can just look at that one "compiled list" and see if "list 1" people are on it.  If they're not on it, then mail them.

Is this do-able?

General Help & How-To / Sequence Number for All Members
« on: February 20, 2006, 07:57:31 am »
Hi,

I just imported about 800 people who were part of a series on my other system

They will all have a sequence number of "1" if I turn on follow ups.  I want to put them all to number "8".  and then back fill 1-7 for the new subscribers who come along behind them.

If I put in 1-7 right now, the people will get #1.  I will also have to click on all 800 to manually do it.

Is there a way to insert into the SQL table the sequence number of 8 for all subscribers in there now?  Even if they have never "technically" had 1-7 on my listmail system?

Customization, Integration / Import follow up emails
« on: February 20, 2006, 07:15:17 am »
Hi

I'm migratiing from another system.  I have about 75 custom messages that run on 3 different lists

I figured out that I could add 1 message to 1 list, then in the drop down, click on 'save' to the other 2 lists.

But, its taking me forever.

Is there a way to import them?  They're just text right now.

Any tips/tricks to getting it done quicker?

General Help & How-To / Import master unsubscribe list
« on: February 18, 2006, 11:39:42 pm »
Hi,

I want to make sure that I didn't accidently import any users off of my unsubscribe list.  I just got your software and I imported a lot of contacts.  The other service I had created a list of all the unsubscribes.

How do I import those into the "removed" section?  or how do I make sure they are out of there?
