General Help & How-To / Secure SMTP connection
« on: May 19, 2012, 09:28:42 am »
Hi

Is anybody using Amazon SES to send mail?

I'm trying to set up an outgoing secure connection with their servers but I'm getting this error:

> EHLO localhost
250-email-smtp.amazonaws.com
250-8BITMIME
250-SIZE 10485760
250-STARTTLS
250-AUTH PLAIN LOGIN
250 Ok
LM: AUTH LOGIN Detected
> AUTH LOGIN
530 Must issue a STARTTLS command first

Does anyone know how to issue a STARTTLS command first?

Cheers

General Help & How-To / hosts for LMP
« on: July 27, 2010, 05:28:19 am »
hi,

could users of LMP let me know who are the best hosts for using listmail please? The list that's on the forum is so old now. surely there must be some people out there that are still using LMP...or is this program completely obsolete now.

thanks

Customization, Integration / Find which followups have the most removes
« on: October 25, 2007, 01:51:41 am »
hi,
Is there any way of finding out which exact email from my autoresponder followups people are unsubcribing from.

It would be great if that info could be added to the email sent to anministrator when user unsubscribe.

It would be really helpful cos that way I can know which letters are working and which ones i need to change.

Dean I'm sure you've got a script somewhere that can do this right!

thanks

General Help & How-To / confirmation after subscribe
« on: October 10, 2007, 05:01:15 am »
hi,
Is there a way I can make the confirmation page come as a pop up on the existing page where my subscribers sign up instead of them having to to go to a new page?

I want to keep visitors on the page that they sign up.
I use double opt in.
So when they click the subscribe button I would like a pop up to tell them to go and check their mailbox; instead of them going to another page for that message.

thanks

General Help & How-To / followup + cron
« on: September 29, 2007, 01:43:57 am »
hi,

I have a post purchase list that has 5 followup emails set. And I also want to send to that same list a monthly offer using cron.

My seq and delays are as follows
             emails         /  seq        /   delay       /    cron
let1           /        1            /    6
let2            /       2            /     8
let3            /       3           /      6
let4          /         4            /     8
let5           /        5           /      8
august offer   /    6          /       0          /     1 8 *
sep offer     /       7          /       0          /     1 9 *

My problem is people who are still of follow up 1 to 6 will not get the next monthly offer for oct which will be set with seq8 and delay 0 and cron 1 10 *

My question is how should I set the list so that I send the first five followups and still manage to send the monthly offers to ALL of the list.

thanks

Customization, Integration / insertion script
« on: September 06, 2007, 06:30:02 am »
hi dean,
you did a custom script for me a few months ago to add customers to lmp from my shopcart.
I've decided to add customers to different list based on what they purchase.

i've activated

// example to change list based on product
if($prodid=='infpa') $list = '3';
elseif($prodid=='book') $list = '3';
else $list = '4';

which was already in the script, but it's not working.the above products are not being added to list 3 but still being added to list 4 instead.

Please help

General Help & How-To / autoresume and cron
« on: June 23, 2007, 03:49:01 am »
hi,

if I set a 15 minutes cron job, my mailing STOPS every 15 mins and then restarts e.g stops at 11:15 restarts at 11:30 stops again at 11:45 etc

If I st an hourly cron for autoresume, my mailing goes for a whole hour then stops an then restart the next hour.

Any ideas how to fix this
I use hostmonster as host and their max email per hour is 500.
although I'm doing smtp throttling at 7.2 secs I have never managed to send anywhere near 500 emails an hour

thanks

General Help & How-To / smtp throttling
« on: April 26, 2007, 08:36:45 am »
hi,

I need to be able to send up to a max of 500 emails per hour using smtp
I just this post

http://listmailpro.com/forum/index.php?topic=32.msg110

which talks about smtp throttling but it was for the earlier version of LMP.
is this code still valid for the current version

if(($y % '100')==0 && $y <> sizeof($sendq)) sleep(25);

and what do I need to change in the code so that I can send 498 emails per hour.

General Help & How-To / Ban unsubscribers automatically
« on: March 29, 2007, 03:13:24 am »
hi

Here is my problem
Following purchase of a product, a customer is added to my LMP list.

That customer gets en email 3 days after their purchase and decides to unsubscribe.

Two weeks later, they buy another product and ends up on the list again.

Is there a way to prevent existing email from being added to certain lists again following their first unsubscribe without having to manually add their email address to signup.php

thanks
sanj
