General Help & How-To / PHP Version Reqirements
« on: August 20, 2008, 06:34:03 am »
I'm currently running an older version of PHP on the server - v 4.3.2 - and I'm considering and upgrade to PHP 5.

Will everything be okay with ListMailPro?

I found the requirements page, but it did not list a minimum version requirement and did not list if it was tested and approved with PHP 5+ (current versions).

General Help & How-To / New error with "Send an Email"

Dean,
Thanks for the reply, we just got it fixed and were able to rebuild the tables using 'repair table lm_sendp;' (Replacing lm_sendp with the table(s) at issue.

I guess it did not work for me, but they were able to get them fixed, so I'm good now.

That was not a fun few hours for me.

General Help & How-To / New error with "Send an Email"

Dean,
Just tried to back up the database using the interface and got the error - Optimizing tables... DONE Writing backup file - Please wait... db error accessing table lm_sendp

I'm getting this error in both installations. Same server, but totally different databases.

I'm very worried about this, please respond ASAP.

Thanks,
Steve

General Help & How-To / New error with "Send an Email"

Dean,
Talk about brining up an old thread. I've just got the same exact error as listed above.

I ran the queries as listed above, one at a time. The first two ran fine, then I tried to send an e-mail, no joy.

I ran the third query as suggested and got the following:

Code: [Select]
REPAIR TABLE lm_sendq USE_FRM
MySQL said:
#1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax near 'USE_FRM' at line 1

Any ideas?

It looks like I'm getting the same error on both of my sites that use ListMail. They are at the same host. Maybe they made some sort of change on me? I am checking with them, but if you have any ideas...

My 80 domains make it severely hard, and at least a week of work, to move them. Sigh.

Heck, I dread moving six or seven, can't even imaging moving 80...

Thanks for letting us know about GoDaddy. They were my backup if everything falls apart with my current host.

I have a virtual private server (VPS) with Apollo Hosting and I have been with them for about seven years. Their tech support via online chat is okay - but it goes in spurts - sometimes you get them, sometimes you do not.

The last two e-mails I sent out (only to lists of 1,200 or so) had some issues where it would stop, but I was able to resume. Still not sure what the issue is there.

I have to use the bounce e-mail address to handle all of the bounced e-mails instead of bounce.cgi which is the preferred method. I could not get bounce.cgi to configure properly and since my lists are smaller, it is working out okay.

I'm pretty much committed to Apollo unless something really goes wrong. I would suggest them to others, but would like to know about why the last two e-mails I sent got "stuck." If I was to manage additional sites for customers, they would be placed on my VPS - I would not manage elsewhere.

General Help & How-To / 354 Enter message, ending with "." on a line by it

Dean,
I just had pretty good luck sending to a list with about 1130 addresses.

I did get an error about two-thirds of the way through, but I waited about three minutes or so and resumed.

The error this time was...

Sending Error. Check your mail settings
Server said"
250 2.1.5 ... Recipient Ok

Strange.

Concerning your offer - if I continue to have trouble, I'll let you know. For my next e-mail, maybe I'll give you a shout to pre-plan timing for the send out and for you to log in and check stuff.

Apollo Hosting is saying that they have made no changes to my service.

This is strange.

I'm not a frequent sender - only about two e-mails per month to groups less than 1,000 people.

Both of my e-mail addresses - the sent from and the bounce to - addresses have their own account on the mail server. Need to do it that way since I am not using bounce.cgi, but using the bounce address and the dailymail cron job to process each night.

I guess I could try setting up the "required authorization" set up next time.

I'd be interested in hearing more from people since this issue seems to have just come up.

I'm having the same issue this evening with Apollo Hosting and I have sent them a request to see if they made any changes since Nov. 22 - the last date that I sent an e-mail for my client.

Due to configuration issues with bounce.cgi, I'm using the third option using a bounce e-mail address and dailymail processing.

Therefore, the bounce@ and the news@ accounts are regular e-mail accounts on the server.

This is definately new - and my guess a change at the host level. I'll post what I hear. This is a pain, but I was able to get my e-mail out (distribution is only about 1,000 for a small business) but I had to resume sending six times.

Development, Suggestions / Reliable !remove code

Interesting idea, but I'd like the ability to turn it on/off.

Occasionally, I use ListMail to send an e-mail to a personal list of friends and family that I have, so this use is unique.

Unfortunately, as they are not processed and output by ListMail, you cannot use message codes on the "Forwarded-to" pages.

That's kind of what I figured. Thanks much.

Dean,
Just revisiting this now. Before you spend the time to take a look - I noticed that if I put the full HTML code into the Custom HTML section, the codes are working properly. If I target a page that refers to the code, it is not working.

I found another example with !button. When people were going to unsubscribe, they did not see the button. I was using the option - "Alternately, enter a URL to forward the user to" and had the message code in the HTML page that was opened on forward.

I changed it and posted the HTML code into the regular section, made all of the links to images and such absolute, and the button showed up.

Am I missing something if I want to you the "forward the user to" option?

Randal,

Glad you got it worked out. I'm currently hosting with Apollo on a VPS account. Since you have a shared account, you may just want to stick with it.

I did have a shared account and was using ListMail for lists of just over 2000 without issue. I did have a problem when I swiched to VPS - could no longer use bounce.cgi and I lost some features that I had on shared.

I've been pretty happy with Apollo support - you just need to hit the right people.
