Customization, Integration / SparkPost integration via TLS?
« on: September 01, 2016, 07:56:05 am »
After all the posting about Amazon SES and the troubles getting it going (and keep it going), I've decided to try another Email provider: SparkPost. SparkPost allows 100,000 free emails every month, after that you pay at a price that is about double what it costs for Amazon SES, but if it works and some of the other issues are not there, it is worth it.

SparkPost allows SMTP connection for sending directly on it's: smtp.sparkpostmail.com server.  You use standard Auth Login ID, and Password.

The only catch is that SparkPost requires TLS support to make that connection, and I cannot get that to work properly in ListMailPRO.   I've tried updates to the Editconf.php file, just to see if I can connect to TLS on port 567, and every time I try, I get this error:
--
SSL operation failed with code 1. OpenSSL Error messages: error:1408F10B:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_RECORD:wrong version number in /home/mydomain/public_html/mail/editconf.php on line 1917
Could not say EHLO.

The SMTP server is not configured correctly. Check your settings.
---

Notice how it is always 'wrong version number', so I asked my host to configure me back to OpenSSL version 1.x, hoping that would solve the problem, it does not.

Does anyone have any idea how to get this running?  Has anyone ran LMP with SparkPost?

Hello,

I have a situation where I would like to run dailymail several times/day, just so that it can run it's 'bounce processing', as I'm getting tons of 'delayed message' emails in my bounce email account.

I did see this post:
http://listmailpro.com/forum/general-help-how-to/getting-dailymail-to-run-more-than-once-a-day/msg69549/#msg69549

Which indicates that there is an undocumented way to run dailymail without followup processing, can you please tell me, does this way of running
dailymail ALSO turn off all other processing EXCEPT for bounce processing?

From your previous post it says: &nosched=1 (option to suppress scheduled message processing.), basically I'm wanting to run dailymail like this from the Dailymail screen in LMP:
--
[ ] Do not allow dailymail to be run automatically until 23 hours 55 minutes has elapsed. (Recommended)

Manually Execute Dailymail

Whether the time has elapsed or not you may run dailymail manually and choose whether or not to update the last execution time.

[ ] Update last execution time. I understand that dailymail may not run at the next scheduled execution.

If you wish, you may select certain parts of dailymail to be skipped.

  • Skip maintenance
  • Skip scheduled followup set application
  • Skip scheduled messages
  • Skip followup message/user processing and sending
  • Skip confirmation reminders

[ ] Skip bounce via mailbox
--

Please let me know if the: &nosched=1 command line option for dailymail would run it exactly as I've indicated above?

Server Optimization, Tweaks / Yahoo FBL code to handle ARF?
« on: August 04, 2015, 10:21:55 am »
Hi DW,

Do you have some code that could handle the updated Yahoo FBL's?  Here's the specs (it's ARF format), and can be sent to any email. So, I'm thinking in Dailymail, when I handle the bounces now (as I do bounces to an email address), that I could insert some code to handle the FBL from Yahoo and delete the complaints, does that make sense?

Here's the link:
http://feedbackloop.yahoo.net/

Here's more from Yahoo central on it:

Server Optimization, Tweaks / Delayed sending and Deferred?
« on: March 19, 2015, 06:34:13 pm »
Hi,

Referring to this Exim config post:
http://listmailpro.com/forum/server-optimization-tweaks/exim-optimization/

I'm running on a VPS server with Exim, as follows:
--
from rootuser by server.mydomain.com with local (Exim 4.82)
--

Now, here's the problem.  I've run with this same configuration, and this same server for the last 3 years.

Everything was fine, until about 10-15 days ago.  Now, what is happening is that I'm ending up with thousands of
emails jammed int he Mail Queue from the RootUser account at the mailserver at my domain, and then I end up getting
these emails saying 'Delayed Sending', or 'Delay in Sending', or something to that effect as reply emails back to my same
rootuser account, AND to my bounce email account - which I am using to remove bounces from every day (through Dailymail).

I just now tried to send the whole jammed up queue (about 28,000 messages), not a huge batch, but I see when sending I'm getting
ALL of these replies talking about 'deferred due to user complaints' coming from Yahoo.  Such as this:
--
SMTP<< 421 4.7.0 [TS01] Messages from xx.xx.xx.xxx temporarily deferred due to user complaints - 4.16.55.1; see http://postmaster.yahoo.com/421-ts01.html
LOG: MAIN
--

When you visit that Postmaster page you see this:
https://help.yahoo.com/kb/postmaster/SLN3434.html?impressions=true

Which seems to indicate it could be temporary, or maybe not, and lists all kinds of remedies, such as DKIM, and several others.

Now, what is strange is that I've been running this server for quite a long time. Over 10 years, so for them to start reporting this repeatedly is frustrating as hell.

So, my question to you DW, or anyone else sending larger volumes of email.

What is the best way to solve this problem with Yahoo???   I'm using SMTP sending directly from my own VPS server. I have reverse DNS setup, but DKIM may be missing
from some messages.

So, is that the whole problem - DKIM?

What to do about this???  Is there a solution that already has the servers optimized for sending, and can handle these kinds of goofy complaints without me having to deal with them every time they come up?

General Help & How-To / Queue stuck
« on: December 26, 2014, 11:55:10 am »
Hi,

I've researched this on the forum, yet, I still cannot find a good way to track these down?  My Send Queue keeps choking, and I need to find out WHICH email address is  causing it?  I'd like to find out for good, so I could prevent any email address like that from getting into the system, but for now if I could just find out which row is bad, and remove it (and then find a way to get at the email address of that row)?

Here's what my top row of the table sendq looks like:
--
ID:                                                           BAT         BATTYPE NTYPE UID  MID         XTRA
==============================================================
0dbae0e52d312ac7440f8a9aac542ff2    11c1e3    2    2    1138039    3421    fup
---

Can you give me some idea, of how I would track down the USER this row is trying to access?  Also, is THIS the row I should be concerned with (the TOP row of the table), or should I be looking at the BOTTOM row of this table?  Which looks like this:
--
ID:                                                           BAT         BATTYPE NTYPE UID  MID         XTRA
==============================================================
b8c90e8e37e935ffd0c29e5ce6f6e9cd    11c1e3    2    2    1138192    3518    fup
---

So, What does all this mean?  How can I check the UID, and run it back in the USER table to find that user?

General Help & How-To / Virus and Security problems with ListMailPRO?
« on: December 16, 2014, 09:16:55 am »
Hi,

Have you seen anything like this before DW?

I just received a ticket from my host, the same host I've been using for the last 3+ years.  The ticket shows that there is a possible infection and security breach, here is the URL it shows (I've changed the domain name/IP for protection):
--
Quote
|date |id |virusname |ip |domain |Url|
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
|2014-12-13 02:42:12 CET |50021665 |Adware.FakeDriverUpdate.gen |99.99.99.999 |mywebsite.com |http://mywebsite.com/mail/link.php?id=_zc0ienfrlovrs1
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Quote
Please preserve on any reply our Subject: [clean-mx-viruses-50021665](99.99.99.999)-->(security@mywebshost.com) viruses sites (1 so far) within your network, please close them! status: As of 2014-12-15 04:04:10 CET

Then there follows inside the message this:

Quote
Advice: The appearance of a Virus Site on a server means that
someone intruded into the system. The server's owner should
disconnect and not return the system into service until an
audit is performed to ensure no data was lost, that all OS and
internet software is up to date with the latest security fixes,
and that any backdoors and other exploits left by the intruders
are closed. Logs should be preserved and analyzed and, perhaps,
the appropriate law enforcement agencies notified.

DO NOT JUST DELETE THE FILES. IF YOU DO NOT FIX THE SECURITY
PROBLEM, THEY WILL BE BACK!

How can I assure the host that this is stopped, and all mailing is not happening from this possible virus?

Have you seen anything like this before DW?

I should also say that I signed-in to my ListMailPRO installation there just a minute ago and all seems fine, LMP is in the process of handling DailyMail and all looks to be fine?

General Help & How-To / DEAN - Can you see this?
« on: July 10, 2009, 08:05:46 pm »
Dean,

Old buddy... people have been trying for months for you to reply. I can't get you on your personal email either.

Mike has considered buying LMP, I wouldn't mind kicking in on development to extend it further, but you never reply to anyone?  What's going on here?  Would you think about handing LMP over to someone that can properly care for it?

Think about it... the future of LMP is probably hanging in the balance... or at least, if you are doing well enough, let us know!

General Help & How-To / NEED SQL Code for creating lm_sendp
« on: July 24, 2007, 10:01:58 am »
Hello DW,

Did you remove this?

I had a post up here on how to fix the lm_sendp table?  I need the SQL code for CREATING the table so I can DROP the old table and re-create it.  It's giving me errors.

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has heard of this.  I recently upgraded to a dedicated server for sending my email.   All is fine, for a while, so then I setup a Feedback loop at AOL, and I am working on White Listing with them.

I have reverse DNS and SPF in place.  BUT, here's the strange thing, today I get a ticket from my host claiming I am sending SPAM?  I called them and they said they are still receiving emails from AOL about the emails I have sent.

My question - how is this possible?  I have a dedicated Server - I own it, though the IP is housed at a hosting company - when I called AOL they had no record of the IP address of the hosting company, only record of my website IP address, and the IP I used to apply for feedback loop (my local SBCGLOBAL account).

They don't know why the host gets the emails either?  I am in the process of setting up white listing with AOL, and then will check back with them again.  But I wonder if anyone else has had this happen?  Is there some way to stop AOL from doing that, why are they sending emails to my host company when I have a dedicated server?

Has anyone else experienced this - and is there any way to stop it, or is it always going to happen?  The problem is, these tickets request 24 hour action, if I'm on vacation or something they could shut down my hosted account that I pay good money for????  Not a good situation...

Also, previously I used to run on Shared Server, I never had complaints such as this from the shared sever host, why am I receiving these from a dedicated host?

Any suggestions?

Hi all,

Ok, once again I'm looking for a VPS or dedicated host.  I see the offerings are in 2 flavors.

1.) cPanel with Exim
2.) Plesk with Qmail

The question, which of these is better/faster for handling large mailings 50,000 at a time, and why, give me all the technical details and include sample mail times using LMP if you have them...

I'd like to make a decision on this in the next few days, and I hope that one combination is a clear winner when working with larger mailings... I did notice the suggestions in this forum about both of these, it does seem that the qmail optimization requires boosting the max connections to 400, I wonder if that would actually cause banning from aol/hotmail/yahoo, etc, and if it would be safer using Exim and the optimizations listed here for that?

Server Optimization, Tweaks / all mail bounced???
« on: May 24, 2007, 09:56:21 pm »
DW,

Have you heard of this, I just setup the new dedicated server, I'm looking at the bounced mail account, and I find over 12,000 bounces, every single message that was 'sent out' last night at 4am looks like this:
---------------
Code: [Select]

This is a delivery status notification from server.mydomain.com,
running the Courier mail server, version 0.51.0.

The original message was received on Wed, 23 May 2007 04:22:06 -0400
from localhost ([::ffff:xxx.xx.xx.xxx])

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

                           UNDELIVERABLE MAIL

Your message to the following recipients cannot be delivered:

-------------------

Do you have any idea what is going on here?  I'm not sure any of this went out, and I don't know why... the name servers were in flux though, I'm sure they're setup now, but may not have been last night... still, no errors from LMP, and as I said before, I had a lot of files in the 'ATTACH' folder with Zero length, no stats, nothing there...

Any ideas?

Hi,

I'm having a weird problem, after a move to a new server, I setup my cron jobs for dailymail and resume.

Dailymail seems to run fine, as it kicked off and filled the send queue last night, but for some reason when I run Resume.php with the exact same command line and password I get an 'Access Denied'.

Is there some workaround for this, or do I need to try to run resume.php with curl or something else?

Does anyone know why resume.php would not run, if dailymail.php runs fine?  DW, anyone?

Ok,

After the move to cpanel, here's the error I see sending a test email to 2 email addresses on my test list:
-----------------------------------

Warning: 100% of messages were skipped due to timeout, authentication or unknown error!
You may want to check your settings, enable the SMTP log and send some test messages to make sure they are delivered.

So, I enabled SMTP log and here's what I see (email addresses changed to protect privacy):

General Help & How-To / Dailymail not sending report?
« on: May 03, 2007, 05:52:34 am »
Hi,

I've been running LMP for years with no problems.  Just a few days ago my host moved me over to a new CPANEL (Plesk).  LMP runs fine, seems to be working, and Dailymail screen says it ran last night, but I'm not getting any Dailymail reports, nothing?

Any idea what would cause this, and how to test it, I can NOT run wget in the chroot environment so I can NOT test this on the command line like I used to do...

I just noticed, the table lm_sendp has my report in it, but it didn't send it?  I had this problem a few weeks ago, not sure why that is, I'll try rebuilding the table, but there's another problem, I'll report that in a different thread...

Any ideas???
