Hi All,
Could someone help me with adding new website?  I have tried to use the paid option, but can't navigate my way throw, as I'm being directed back to login over and over. I need some help and it seems to be impossible to contact the support.
Do I need to upload it again to the new website?
My first website is on the same server and database.
Beata

Hey Beata,

I know it's been a month since you wrote this, but I had to snicker as I
read it.  You sound like I did when I first bought LMP about 4-5 years
ago.  I think it was version 1.84 then.

The reason I snickered was that you sound just like did back then :)
Thanks to DW it was installed perfectly.  (thanks Dean!)

Normally I drop by here at least once a week to see what's going on.  I
was in the hospital since June 9th, and this is the first chance I've taken
since I got home to catch up reading the forum.

I don't see your website listed and I would like to take a look at it.  You
can either list it here or send me an email.

Keep on working as you are.

SemperFi!

General Help & How-To / Crontab Error
« on: January 19, 2008, 04:39:50 am »
DW,

I am setting up my cron for my dailymail as you have it shown in the help topics, which is:

/usr/bin/wget -O /dev/null -T 0 http://mydomain.com/mail/dailymail.php?pw=password 1> /dev/null 2> /dev/null

and got this error:

/usr/bin/crontab permissions are wrong. Please set to 4755

What is 4755, and how can I fix it?

any help you can give me will be appreciated.

Email Web Hosting / Don't Use A VPS
« on: December 03, 2007, 04:05:43 pm »
You should stay away from a VPS for that size list,.

A VPS is a dedicated server that is shared by several VPS accounts that are usually over sold.

An example could be something like this:

The dedicated server might hold 80 GB of space with 800 GB of bandwidth.  Some hosting companies would setup VPS accounts (with a WHM/cPanel) giving customers 20 GB/Space with 200/GB of bandwidth for 2-3 times what they would sell someone for a dedicated server.

The problem is that they may setup as many 10 or more VPS accounts on that server which would be more than the server could hold.

They do this because most people that want a VPS use them for their own websites that never come close to using that much space or bandwidth, but want the freedom of having a WHM so each of their websites will have it's own cPanels, instead of add-on domains.

I've been in the web hosting business since 2001, and most of that time as a reseller until I finally got smart enough to get my own dedicated server.

If the websites in my signature aren't online, it's because I am upgrading my server, and will be back up within 24-48 hours.

I hope this helps.  If you have any questions, feel free to email me.

General Help & How-To / Signup Error
« on: May 13, 2007, 03:19:39 am »
Hi DW,

I don't know if you watch for "Support Completed" replies or not.

I just replied to one of mine in that category.

You can find it here:  http://listmailpro.com/forum/index.php?topic=1806.msg7649

Please take a look at it for me and let me know if you have any suggestions to
fix my signup error.

Thanks for your help,

General Help & How-To / I may have found the Signup Error

Hi Neil,

Please submit a report and I will look into this for you.

Regards

Hi Dean,

I know it's been a month since you responded to my support ticket, but my health
has prevented me from doing a lot of what I need to do with my business. I've had
to go to more outpatient appointments than I can count right now.  And I'm having
major surgery on June 11th.

That's enough about me  :(   I'll get back to the Signup Error.  When you ran a test,
you had no problems with signing up on my form.  Would you please run another test
as if you were a returning customer that ordered a new webhosting account?  I
think that is when the problem happens.

To refresh your memory, here is my support ticket: http://listmailpro.com/support/?t=331bb115b4fa9e7f62def0a1f1c1daeb

Fortunately, that hasn't happened since most of my customers at: http://A1-WebsiteHosting.com
have signed up as a reseller or taken advantage of my June special and haven't
needed to signup for another account yet.

It may be that I don't have the list settings to accept duplicate signups.  I'm sure its
there, but I can't find it.  If that is possible, please let me know.

Thanks for helping me DW!

General Help & How-To / Signup Error
« on: April 12, 2007, 09:38:48 am »
I am using LMP on a Thank You page.  The signup form has these fields:
First Name
Last Name
Email Address
plus 8 Custom Fields

I have setup error messages for all of my custom fields.

I have tested the form online, the working preview, and on my laptop.  On all three, I get the following error on the signup.php page.

There were errors with your subscription to our mailing list.

The error messages are as follows:

Please press the back button on your browser and re-enter your information.

This makes no sense to me.

I made another test, which was to leave out the @ in my email address.  This time I got the appropriate error:
There were errors with your subscription to our mailing list.

The error messages are as follows:
The email address you entered is in an incorrect format.

Please press the back button on your browser and re-enter your information.

This site is scheduled to go live in the next few days and this form is crucial to have ready to take orders.

I hope there is a quick fix to this problem that someone  can tell me how to do it.

Thanks,

Neil

General Help & How-To / Re: Sorry Dean I don't follow..

Hi Dean,

I've got say 5 different lists created in ListMailPro.

List #1,
List #2,
List #3,
List #4,
and
List #5

What do I actually have to have setup on ListMailPro in order that
I can actually send a Broadcast to any of these lists...

SPECIFIC DETAILS would help a ton. An example would be worth alot here.  What needs to be in place on the server to make this a reality?

Thanks

Christopher

I'm not Dean, but I will see if I can help.

Every list you make you must also have a signup-list.cgi
so in you case, you would have:
signup-list1.cgi
signup-list2.cgi
signup-list3.cgi
signup-list4.cgi
signup-list5.cgi

Of course you will have to configure each one as explained
in the README.txt

I hope that helps.

While rare the "Test Mail Settings" test has been known to show this error while still allowing sending of standard email, ie. by using "Send Email" to send to a test list.

The problem is usually related to the "bounce to address".  With bounce disabled this is the administrator email.  For best results this address should be on on the ListMail domain, so if ListMail is installed at example.com/mail the address might be bounce@example.com.  Your "Send From Email" addresses for each list may also need to be on your domain, and may furthermore need to exist in your hosting control panel as a "mailbox" or "forwarder" in order to be able to send.

Another possible cause of problems are the SMTP settings.  First, try "localhost" as the host with no additional authorization.  If that doesn't work try creating a mailbox and using that to authorize with the server (AUTH authorization, maknig sure to use the correct 'hostname').  Lastly, try the "Authorize by Checking Email" feature with and without AUTH enabled.

Regards

Thanks Dean!

I took your advice by sending a test email.  And you were right about the SMTP settings.  When I sent the test email, I got an error and received this:

"You may want to check your settings, enable the SMTP log and send some test messages to make sure they are delivered"

When you wrote, "try "localhost" as the host with no additional authorization" did you mean without a username and password?

I'm not clear on what you mean by this:

Quote

I have two email addresses that I've been using, and they are supported by SMTP.  The reason I said it that way is because I have to use my ISP's SMTP in Outlook Express, but to use my cPanel to setup an email address it does set it up with the domain's SMTP.

It's almost 2 A.M. and my thinking is fading fast, so it you can explain what you mean about "AUTH" it will help me more.

Thanks,
Neil

I just finished installing LMP on 2 domains.  The installation went well and setup the "Configuration" the same on both of them.

When I clicked on "Test Mail Settings," Domain #1 came out like this:
[SMTP Server]
Is enabled?  Yes
Connecting to SMTP server.. Connected!
Sending test email to remote address.. Success!

and Domain #2 came out like this:
[SMTP Server]
Is enabled?  Yes
Connecting to SMTP server.. Connected!
Sending test email to remote address.. Problem setting receiver to Remote Test Address
The SMTP server is not configured correctly. Check your settings

What should I try to do to get the second domain to work?

The Bounce function worked properly on both of them.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Neil
