wondering if any Listmail users are getting reports from subscribers about Trend Micro identifying them as a virus or malware source?

I've had a few panicked unsubscribers email me for manual removal because their Trend Micro AV software apparently warns them to NOT click the Listmail self-removal link.

Testimonials, Feedback / I Tried Aweber - for a while .....
« on: October 29, 2006, 04:40:20 pm »
I had to find out for myself if I was missing out - so (for a few months in 2006) I used AWeber online autoresponder service to run my opt-in subscriber forms and followup mailings.

It was good - no doubt about that - even with a monthly fee of $19.95 US.

But what I ended up missing was the easy-to-use interface and rich features of ListMail Pro. IMHO - there is just no online autoresponder service that can even begin to compare.

ListMail Pro has been my faithful workhorse since 2002 - and now I know for sure that I'm not missing a thing!

Thanks Dean

Couldn't get your wget work around to function.

BUT - I emailed Host4Profit support asking about wget on their
server (now that I finally know the right question to ask.)

It's still there - they just had to change the filename to prevent
hackers from using it to gain access.

Anyone who is having "subscribe by email" trouble on Host4Profit
should email H4P support and ask for the (confidential) wget filename.

Then just edit it into signup-listxx.cgi - works perfectly now!

Until about a year ago the subscribe by email (.cgi) function worked perfectly on my long existing ListMail Pro installation.

Then it suddenly quit - but wasn't a big issue at the time since I use forms to gather new subscribers.

Host4Profit support says it isn't their fault - and I didn't do anything different or mess with existing files/commands/configurations/CHMOD either.

Now that I want to change up my marketing plan, and resume using subscribe by email for coreg and other stuff - the malfunction has once again become an issue.

Any ideas and feedback will be much appreciated.

General Help & How-To / Help please - anyone out there?
« on: October 25, 2006, 12:22:00 pm »
Lemme see if I can help a bit ... here are the info boxes from the installation order form:

Control Panel

Access URL: this is the URL where you login to your hosting account - should have been furnished to you in a "welcome" email when you signed up.

Username: your username for your hosting account

Password: your password for your hosting account

FTP

Hostname or IP: in most cases this is just your domain name - example: rosyswebsite.com

but if you have not done the Domain Name Server change (DNS) at the site where you *registered* your domain name - you will need to furnish the IP address instead of the domain name.

IP address will be a string of digits that are formatted with dots similar to this:

xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

Username: this should be the same username you furnished above

Password: this should be the same password you furnished above

Install Dir: this box already has /mail embedded as a directory name - so just leave it as it is.

BTW - I've been using ListMail Pro for about 4 years. You're gonna love it!

Wishing all the best

Development, Suggestions / [Dev] More diverse sending times

15 minute increments might be a suitable compromise. Even with manual broadcasts I try to NOT mail at the top of the hour.

Testimonials, Feedback / $195 is closer to truth!

I don't obsess on ListMail. I don't worry about it, nor do I have many pertinent thoughts to post here.

It's always been in the background, quietly doing its job like a trusty workhorse, while I concern myself with the daily aspects of running successful website businesses.

Thanks Dean - it's ABOUT TIME you quit giving away the farm!

All the best
